Alina Rominger

Alina was born in Krakow, Poland, and emigrated with her parents to Australia where she grew up.  From an early age, in primary school and onwards, she was artistic, winning prizes in drawing, painting, sewing, and ceramics.  Being from a European background however, and encouraged by her parents, she pursued a career in Sciences and earned degrees in Anatomy, Biomechanics, and Physiology, subsequently working as a Physical Therapist in Australia, Canada, and the United States.  To this day she claims that her knowledge of anatomy and biomechanics expands her ability to understand connections, articulations, and gives her an appreciation of form and fit when designing and creating adornments for people.

Her art-form utilizes carving, casting, silver and gold smithing, setting stones, wirework, and many other techniques for assembly.  She uses only American turquoise, precious metals, precious and semi-precious stones, South Sea and Freshwater petals.  Her original designs are colorful, bold, and contemporary.  Preserving natural textures and colors in the stones with which she works give her work a unique, earthy quality.
